Usually when I’m doing an embroidery project, I trace my design with a pencil unto the fabric. That is not possible with felt or fabrics with a high pile.
That leaves three options: iron on transfers or pencils, freehand (as on this sunflower needlecase I made many years ago.), or using tracing or tissue paper.
For this sewing basket set, and embroidery envelope I’ve chosen to use tracing paper.
- Trace your design on the paper.
- Baste to your felt.
- Embroider over both felt and paper.
- Carefully pull the tracing paper away, using tweezers for small areas.
